The former of these accounts for the defalcations $1,085.
97 shown in Section G of Sergt. Gerrard's report. These have been traced through the Crown Rent Registers, the late shroff having entered the counterfoil numbers in the remarks column against the collections to which they refer.

The figures as shown under sections A, C, and D differ from those shown by Seret. Gerrard, owing to clerical errors in cast- ing which were pointed out to the latter in the course of my examina- tion.
5. The sum shown as paid to Treasury is increased by $818.00 as I found another receipt had been given by the shroff at Taivo which had not been taken into account.
8.
The total shown under section B of my report shows a large increase when compared with Sergt.Gerrard's figures, which is easily accounted for by more temporary receipts having come to hand since Serat. Gerrard submitted his report.
7.
With reference to the sum of $2,62 found by me in lp #ai Lam's Cash Box, the latter was opened by me in the presence of Mr. Clementi by means of a key of my own property and the sum in questior was handed over to hr. Orae who intenis paying it to the Taipo Shroff; to the credit of Crown Kant, New Territory.
